Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is a series of clinical interventions and algorithms used to treat life-threatening cardiovascular events. ACLS training expands upon experienced medical professionals’ existing knowledge and skills obtained during their basic life support (BLS) training. This training ensures that healthcare providers have ample skills to support patients who are experiencing cardiac arrest, stroke, and/or other critical, life-threatening emergencies. ACLS training addresses several conditions, including stroke recognition and treatment, acute coronary syndromes (ACS), respiratory arrest, and sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

An Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification may be necessary for healthcare workers in both emergent and non-emergent settings. It is best suited for healthcare professionals who either direct or help manage cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies, including personnel in emergency response. Oregon CPR provides Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support training and recertification courses in line with the American Heart Associations’ guidelines and training programs.

Our certification course at Oregon CPR teaches medical professionals:

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke symptoms
  • Effective communication as a member, leader, and support person of a resuscitation team
  • The related pharmacology of ACLS

Our certification program expands on the AHA’s basic life support training. Our training includes the American Heart Association’s manual, with reference material and a self-assessment to help medical personnel determine if they are knowledgeable enough to benefit from this type of advanced training. ACLS training is constantly improving and is regularly updated by the American Heart Association in order for training bodies like ourselves to provide the best Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support practices to the medical professionals taking our courses.

How can ACLS training benefit you and your staff?

ACLS provides tools for healthcare professionals to improve their chances of saving a patient’s life when they are experiencing a medical crisis. This training utilizes a wide range of technical knowledge and is best suited for professionals with significant experience in patient care. For qualified medical professionals, it could be the difference between life and death for a person in an emergency. With this course, you and your staff can improve patient outcomes by keeping a patient’s neurological function intact while sustaining life during cardiovascular events or strokes. In addition, advanced Cardiovascular Life Support improves resuscitation efforts and can increase the medical professionals’ chance of saving their patients’ life.

Oregon CPR is dedicated to providing our clients with the best ACLS training around. We have recently invested over $20,000 into our Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support courses, which includes a MegaCode Kelly and ECC kid and baby. This high quality equipement allows for us to provide you and your team with real life experiences that a basic CPR manikin could not. This brand new equipment teaches students how to react to situations quickly and efficiently. By using this equipment in Oregon CPR’s ACLS course, students get to learn skills in CPR, ACLS, NBC, trauma, bleeding, and first aid. They allow for inseration of standard airway devices, LMA, and combitube, and we can train students in chest tube and IV insertion using these manikins as well.
